Although not necessarily a 'new' idea, I came across the mention of the bridal shower gift basket concept where each individual item was wrapped in a specific color for use at certain times during the first year of married life. This adorable theme was initially conceived with different color candles and then extended over to different color wines.

I reworked the poem a bit and I think it would be a great idea to make them for different types of spirits altogether. I wrote down suggestions alongside the lyrics in red and decided to share them. Enjoy!

A basket of spirits for a special pair, wrapped in different colors for you both to share. We hope that you always are as happy each married day. Please share these spirits just as we say.

First, drink the champagne, the bottle wrapped in lace,
On your first married night in your chosen place.

The silver one you must wait to unseal
Until you have your first guests over for a meal.
Shiraz

Love as you might, you'll have your first fight
Drink the blue one while you make up that night.
Rum

The gold bottle you save for Thanksgiving
To toast to the love filled life you are living.
Pinot Noir

As the winters get cold, take time to snuggle
And watch the first snowfall while you drink the white bottle.
Frangelico/Bailey's (great with hot chocolate)

The green bottle's for Christmas when putting up your first tree
Drape the ceilings in mistletoe and get tipsy
Vodka

On January 1st, while sharing some kisses,
Drink the purple bottle to toast the New Year as Mr. & Mrs.
Prosecco

Drink the pink bottle, romantic and sweet,
When it's time for your newlywed Valentine's treat.
Godiva Liqueur

And when your first year of marriage is done,
Drink the red bottle in honor of anniversaries to come.
Veuve Cliquot

Cheers to Bride & Groom on the start of your lives together. May this basket celebrate the firsts of your forever!
